Tai Chi or Taiji is an intelligent movement system that trains the body and mind naturally and perceptively to produce excellent health, fitness and well-being. With its ancient roots it continues to be one of the most effective and successful health systems known today.
The birthplace of Tai Chi is the Chen Village (Chenjiagou) deep in the heart of China where Tai Chi has been practised for hundreds of years. Tai Chi is practised by most people for its remarkable ability to improve movement, mindfulness, health and fitness. However, through dedicated training it can be developed as a superb means of self-defence which alongside superior health and fitness, comprises its original purpose.
Sussex Tai Chi offer regular classes, workshops, 1:1 tuition and event services. Our weekly classes, monthly and annual workshops allow you access to a friendly and experienced instructor so that you can progress at a speed that suits you.
We offer a wide range of classes suitable for all ages and abilities from beginners through to advanced practitioners. Our classes focus upon the key principles that form the foundation of excellent movement, well being and skill in martial arts (gong fu).

We teach the original authentic Chen Style of Tai Chi as taught by Grandmaster Chen Xiao Wang and Master Chen Bing, president of Sussex Tai Chi. We also teach the related art of Qigong.
Learning Tai Chi is more challenging than most people think and this applies on both a physical and a mental level.
